Dartmoor Treasures was painted during lockdown 1.0 as Dartmoor and its beauty was a calming place for me. I adored painting the wildlife in this, which includes Dartmoor ponies, the rare Butcher Bird, Dipper birds, Beltie cows, sheep and butterflies. It is a painting with few people in it, just Sophie and her mum relaxing under a tree and a couple of lost explorers! This is loosely based on Tavy Cleave, but actually it is meant to embody many landmarks of Dartmoor - like the granite rocks and deep pools, the hawthorn trees and gorse bushes. I painted this in blues and purples which I find are calming and relaxing colours.
